Included are most of the buildings in existence prior to the major demolitions of 1958-59 and 1968.
- Several hundred books and periodicals pertaining to the Island and its environs.
- Several hundred files of newspaper and magazine clippings and ephemera.
- Several dozen original paintings of Island scenes.
- Several dozen videotapes of Island activities.
- Oral histories on audiotape by past and present Islanders.
- Somewhat complete sets of Island publications such as The Centre Islander, The Goose and Duck, Ward's Island Weekly, The Algonquin Islander, The Gibraltar Pointer, and TIRA News.
- Two directories, alphabetical and by address, of all residents of Algonquin Island from its subdivision in 1938 to the present, compiled from assessment rolls, voters lists, city directories, Island school records, Island phone books, etc.
- A selection of lists of residents of Ward's, Centre and Hanlan's from the above sources.
| | Research Facilities | Work areas, photocopier, prints from negatives, laser copies of photographs, scanning and emailing. | | Newsletter | "News from the Archives" has appeared quarterly since 1992 on the first days of March, June, September, and December. Approximately half of its 10 pages are devoted to Island history and the remainder to current events. Yearly subscriptions are available for $8. Previous issues are kept in stock. |
