The Ward's Island [Recreation] Association is a registered not-for-profit organization established in 1913 to provide its members with suitable access to amateur sport and social past-times.
The WIA facilities (pictured above) are located less than 300 feet south of the Ward's Island Ferry dock at the east end of Toronto Island.
Over 360 WIA members have access to amateur sports activities including tennis (on the finest clay courts in Toronto), bowling and croquet on the WIA green (resurfaced in 2006), baseball, soccer and social events held weekly in the WIA "Big Clubhouse" that was built from 1937 to 1938. When not being used for WIA member activites, the clubhouse facilities are available for rent to the public.
The WIA is managed by WIA members that volunteer from the surrounding communities of Ward's and Algonquin Islands.
ATTENTION SOCCER/BASEBALL PLAYERS! As soccer and baseball continue to thrive, we recognise a need for a new membership category: Field Sports. We encourage all field sport participants to join as social members and pay an additional introductory field sport fee of $5. Tennis and bowling members who wish also to be field sport members will pay an additional $5 on top of their sports package. As the needs of the players for these two sports become apparent, we will purchase items necessary for the growth and encouragement of the sports.

* Single Parents and their children receive 50% off of REGULAR 2011 family fee in any category.
* Family Memberships are available for families with children 18 and under, or students 19+. They DO NOT include adult children [ages 19 and over] UNLESS those adult children are students. Adult children 19 and over who are NOT STUDENTS fall into the ADULT fee category.
* Members who have been awarded Lifetime Memberships no longer pay any associated activity fees.
2011 WIA GUESTS: Tennis $14/day or $70/week • Bowling $10/day or $49/week. Passes are available for purchase at the Wards Island Cafe.
